Enlight Meter Installation Simplified

Split Prepayment Metering can offer a number of challenges during installation. We all seek ways to make life easier for the person tasked with carrying out the installation.

Product knowledge is important and can benefit anyone presented with the situation. However, making it easier to understand assists anyone overcoming some of the obstacles.

This is where Enlight has given time and thought to making the installation a less cumbersome task. The DIN Rail mountable Meter has bottom connect terminals. Of which there are 4, referenced by their symbols for Live In; Live OUT; Neutral IN and Neutral OUT. Therefore, conforming to the typical set-up of the dwellings electrical network. A simple terminal cover can slide in place and sealed with a regulation wire and ferrule.

The Customer Interface Unit comes in two formats, either Common Base or Stand Alone. As named the Common Base plugs into the Eskom Common Base fitment which many older dwellings already have in place. The unit can be sealed in two places using the regulation wire and ferrule.

The Stand-Alone unit is supplied with a cable and plug which is compliant with the local electrical sockets in the dwelling. As a back-up, the unit has batteries which enables the owner to enter credit tokens when there is no power in the dwelling. Batteries are supplied with the unit at Installation, must be replaced by the householder when the batteries lose their charge.

After the fitment of the meter and the Customer unit, the two need to be paired (Registered with each other to ensure security of communication). This is where the Enlight Split meter has probably the easiest procedure of any meter. Once powered the customer unit display will show ‘HELLO” followed immediately by ‘MSN 09’. The installer only needs to enter the remaining 9 digits of the meter serial number, press enter and the customer unit will pair with the meter. Once communication is validated by the meter the customer unit display will show the remaining credit
in the meter. That completes the task.

In summary, after getting the wiring correct, the installation is very straightforward, easy and quick.
